Tan Wei Lian, Kelvin
Age: 29 Born with Leber's Congenital Amaurosis, Kelvin started out as a street busker. In 2005, he later won Project SuperStar, a singing competition produced by MediaCorp Singapore. Kelvin is currently a recording artiste with Warner Music Singapore. He became interested to join DiD as he felt the close exchange between guide and visitors would “provoke a change in perspectives about the ‘otherness’”, referring to people with disabilities.
He feels honoured that he was given the chance to guide the very first tour. When asked what motivates him to be a guide, Kelvin said, "I hope by taking part in the programme, I can not only improve myself but also help introduce/promote DiD to a lot of people and help them understand that living in the dark is not as scary as they thought". |
